AuSable River Canoe Marathon is an iconic, nonstop 120-mile canoe race held each July from Grayling to Oscoda, Michigan. It starts at 9 p.m. with a dramatic LeMans-style sprint down a downtown street to the Au Sable River and pushes competitors through the night. Paddlers navigate six dam portages and paddle into the next day. It’s one of North America’s oldest and toughest canoe marathons, often called “The World’s Toughest Spectator Race.”
