Houghton Lake State Forest Campground refers to the public recreation area on the north shore of Houghton Lake, Michigan’s largest inland lake (about 20,000 acres). It’s a rustic yet scenic lakeside destination popular for fishing, boating, swimming, picnicking, hiking, kayaking, and water access right from the shore. The campground has about 50 tent and small trailer sites with basic amenities like potable water and restrooms; sites are first-come, first-served and perfect for a laid-back lake escape.
